Welcome to the GRK 1482

GRK stands for "Graduiertenkolleg" and means a Research Training Group for PhD fellows with an embedded and coordinated educational program. Research Training Groups are established by universities to promote young researchers. They are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for a period of up to nine years.

We are delighted to offer such a dedicated program.
The 1st funding period of the GRK 1482 commenced in April 2008 and came to an end in September 2012. In 2011 we defended our Research Training Group in a very competitive evaluation procedure with great success. PhD fellows and Principal Investigators (PIs) convinced in a truly joint effort the critical minds of the reviewer panel that the research and educational environment of the GRK provides a lively and skilled platform for scientific and personal development. This success was not only a matter of numbers but was also the consequence of a collaborative spirit.
The 2nd funding period of our Research Training Group GRK 1482 has started on October 1, 2012. The DFG financially supports the GRK 1482 with almost 2.8 Million Euro for the next 4.5 years. The GRK 1482 finally ends in March 2017.

The GRK 1482 brings together a unique spectrum of experts from nutrition, microbiology and physiology as well as medical sciences to understand the role of the gut interface in health and disease states.

The 2nd phase of the GRK funding period will be used to shape the already visible scientific core expertise based on established interactions between the different PIs and common projects at TUM providing the scientific and human resource nucleus for the future work.
